What is a Giclee Canvas Reproduction?

Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") reproductions were originally developed in 1989 as a digital method of fine art printing. The word Giclee is French for "to spray on" or "to spray ink".  Original paintings are photographed or scanned, capturing the image and saving it to a high quality digital file. The image is then sent directly to a high resolution, inkjet printer. This technology provides incredible detail and brilliant color.  The resolution is much higher than traditional lithography which results in crisp contrast with rich, intense color.

Unlike lithographs and serigraphs, Giclee printing has undergone extensive, third-party fade-testing. Giclees are printed using high quality archival canvases and inks. While the predicted display life depends on many variables, under typical home or office lighting, and depending on the papers used, most Giclees are estimated to last up to 90+ years without noticeable fade.

Why is a Giclee Canvas Reproduction an option for you?

The Giclee Canvas Reproduction gives you an affordable, high quality alternative to original artwork. Additionally, the Giclee process allows for a variety of size options to suit your decorating needs. The Giclee Canvas Reproduction is displayed in a similar style to original paintings on canvas - no need for glass. Since the quality of the inks and varnishes are of high quality, you can display it framed or unframed on your wall.

About my Giclee Canvas Reproductions...

Giclees can be printed onto many surfaces including paper, canvas, woods and metals. My Giclees are only reproduced on canvas. I find Canvas Reproductions to be the most versatile and affordable way to reproduce my paintings. There are various size and framing options available. Several of the Canvas Reproductions are available as a package deal, offering specific groups as a set of two or three. All of my Canvas Reproductions are signed and numbered, limited edition art. All of my Giclee Canvas Reproductions are also 'Ready to Hang'. Whether you choose the Framed or the No Frame, Gallery Wrap option, they are all wired and professionally finished so they can be hung in your home right out of the package. Additionally, the No Frame, Gallery Wrap (7/8") gives you the option to frame the reproduction yourself with your own frame.

If you do not see the image, size or frame options you would like, contact me to see what other options I have available that may suit your specific needs. Custom option pricing will depend on size and frame options but not on the fact that it is a custom order. There is no 'special order' upcharge fee on any custom item.

All of my online Canvas Reproduction orders are printed to order. Most Canvas Reproduction orders will be shipped within 1-2 weeks. Special orders shipping will vary.

Care for your Giclee Canvas Reproduction...

It is recommended that customers treat their Giclée Canvas Reproductions the same as they would any original piece of art.  You should never expose any type of artwork to prolonged sunlight or other harsh conditions. Clean Giclee regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any liquids or cleaning products of any type.
